Dr. Barish has been practicing gastroenterology in Raleigh since 1985.  He is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine with the University of North Carolina School of Medicine.  Dr. Barish also founded Wake Research Associates in 1985, and has become a respected thought leader in both the Pharmaceutical and Biotechnology industry.  He has authored and co-authored articles regarding gastrointestinal disorders in numerous medical journals and books.

Dr. Ender began practicing gastroenterology in 1993.   He has served as an instructor to medical students and residents at the University of North Carolina program at WakeMed Hospital.  His academic interests include gastrointestinal clinical research, bioinformatics and medical education.  He is currently a member of the endoscopy committee at Rex Hospital.
 
Dr. Ender is active in the community and donates his time as a physician volunteer with the Project Access program of Wake County.  Additionally he is a member of the Triangle Community Foundation and serves on the board of several local charities.

Dr. Herschelman joined Wake Gastroenterology in March of 2008. Prior to that he was in private practice in Aventura, Florida since 1996.  He is accepting new gastroenterology patients, consultations and open access procedures.

Dr. Kaplan has been practicing in Raleigh since 2000.  Prior to that, he practiced in Pensacola , Florida , starting in 1994, where he served as chairman of the Gastroenterology Division of West Florida Medical Center Clinic, a group of 165 physicians.  He is actively involved on committees at Rex Hospital including the Conscious Sedation Committee and is a past chairman of the By-Laws Committee.  His academic interests include colon cancer prevention and new diagnostic tools and therapies for irritable bowel syndrome.
